As the first point of contact for many visitors, the Tourism Officer plays a vital role in delivering friendly, accurate, and engaging information about Cloncurry and the Queensland region. You’ll assist with daily centre operations, exhibitions, and merchandise, and play an active role in planning and supporting community events and tourism initiatives.Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver exceptional customer service to visitors and the communityProvide tourist information across the local area, region, and stateSupport the day-to-day operations of the Visitor Information Centre and MuseumPromote Cloncurry as a tourism destination through displays, events, and guided toursAssist with exhibitions and events at Cloncurry UnearthedMaintain merchandise displays, process sales, and reconcile cash handlingMonitor visitor statistics and maintain recordsCollaborate with other cultural and tourism facilities in the ShireSupport with general upkeep of the centre and surrounding garden areasWork flexibly, including weekends or evenings when requiredWhat You Will BringA professional, friendly, and helpful mannerA genuine interest in tourism, local history, and community engagementStrong customer service and communication skillsGood computer and digital literacy, including data entry and point-of-sale systemsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamA proactive attitude and willingness to take initiativeGreat time management and organisation skillsEssential RequirementsAttainment of year 12 level of education is desirable.Current manual ‘C’ Class driver’s licenceBlue Card (Working with Children Check) or ability to obtainNational Police ClearanceDesirableDiploma or higher qualification in Tourism or a related field Previous experience in visitor centres, museums, or eventsFor a more detailed job outline, please refer to the attached PD.
